Ladies Corner

Welcome to Ladies Corner.  It is our desire to challenge and encourage women to seek the Lord and rely on His power and strength.  Ladies today are carrying a heavy load.  Many feel overwhelmed by the circumstances surrounding them.  We rejoice in a God that is not limited by circumstances and whose love is abundant to those who call.

Mrs. Kamikubo joined us during the last Ladies Fellowship Meeting and taught the ladies how to make strawberry mochi.  It was 'ono'licious.

Bright and Shiny Light

In the winter of 1974, I was on escape & evasion maneuvers.  The Army took us up a mountain in Colorado.  At the bottom of the mountain there were two camps.  One was for those who avoided being captured while the other camp was for those captured.   A full moon reflecting off of four inches of snow lit up the night sky, which helped us climb down the mountain safely.  The problem arose when we had to cross an open field, and saw enemy scouts coming, my buddy and I hit the ground.  Honestly, I don’t see how they didn’t spot us, but they didn’t.  After they left, my buddy and I continued to the camp.  A warm fire awaited us, and believe me it was a welcome sight.  Our excitement was short lived.  A sergeant barked at us and told us to get in a tent.  It turned out that we had wandered into the “enemy” camp!  The sergeant thought we had been captured and our dog tags and IDs had been taken.  We saw no reason to inform him otherwise.  When a military truck loaded up all the “captured” soldiers, we joined them.  They were “kind” enough to take us to the right camp.  I still laugh when I think back to the incident.  A full moon illuminated our path… “enemy” soldiers who failed to see us…and a vehicle ride  right into the correct camp.

Although the moonlight that night was amazing, it was not emanating from the moon.   It was light from the sun bouncing off the moon.  The properties of light are amazing.

  • It is a form of energy that we can actually see…at least when the electromagnetic radiation wavelength is in the range of 390 to 700 nanometers.
  • Light travels out in all directions from its source.
  • It can also bend?  A YouTube video shows how you can cloak an item by bending light.   They are now working on computer chips that bend light in order to increase the speed of the computer.
  • We all know that plants take light energy and convert it to chemical energy.
  • Solar panels take the sun’s energy and convert it into electrical energy.

Scientists are learning more and more ways to take the energy from the sun and convert it to energy that we use in our everyday life.

What is even more marvelous is that Jesus is the “Light of the World” (Jn. 8:12).  He has the POWER to change lives.  I honestly believe that Christians have barely tapped into the source of the power of God in their lives.   In Matthew 5:14 the Bible says, “Ye are the light of the world.  A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.”  As sun light bounces off the moon and illuminates the night sky, the light of the Lord Jesus should bounce off Christians and illuminate a lost world.  The closer we get to the Lord, and the less pollution in our life, the greater God’s light will shine.

May the lost see something in our life that will help them see you: the GREATEST LIGHT OF ALL!

The ladies of Lanakila compiled a cook book several years ago.  Many of these recipes are found in that book.  Hope you enjoy them.
